USC loss sucked, Colorado was nice
Good to see the Beavers recover from a very lame game against USC.

USC rattles Mannion
The only thing I can say about the loss to USC was that Mannion looked like a freshman.
He stayed in school because the NFL forecasted him getting drafted in 3rd round or later. After Saturday's game, he''ll be lucky to get drafted in the 5th round. USC is not that good, even if they are good, a Senior QB with credentials should carve them up. This sucks because Sean is a good kid.
I am still optimistic about OSU's season, but I am kinda bummed that Mannion hurt himself. He is a good kid, dedicated to OSU's success. If character and heart meant something in the NFL, then he should be a 1st round pick.
That said, I am not happy with Garrett's OC and QB work. Mannion should be prep'd better. Stress tested better. Pushed harder. His fundamentals should be tight. So should his mentality. Mannion should feel like he can conquer the world. Regardless of opponent.
I wasn't happy about the hail mary, but the defense played hard. To the point that USC got dirty and went for the knee's of OSU's defensive lineman repeatedly. We lost 3 DL's in the game.

Top 10 Oregon State Football Highlights #10
2006 Oregon State Football- Boom
As a lead up to the season I am posting IMHO awesome OSU highlights I've found on YouTube. This might be the best OSU highlights reel ever to be honest. The music, hit sounds, excitement, are awesome. But I am starting this at #10, counting down to the first game this year.

36-7! OSU applies an ass whuppin'
Katz to Hulahani for a TD with 2 minutes left.
Game over. Better special teams and better defense allowed the Beavers to beat the Trojans tonight. Quizz produced as usual, Katz didn't turn the ball over.
Congrats to the Beavers for showing that they are a football team with a mental problem.
It's great to beat USC, and it's better than a loss, but it also makes the losses to UW, UCLA, and WSU all the more painful.
23-7 Beavers, 9 minutes left
While this is not the same as previous USC victories, it's always nice to beat the Trojans.
The Beavers look like the aggressor tonight for a change.
Barkley is out due to an ankle sprain. The Beavers just need to not make mistakes to win this game.
What does this potential victory mean to OSU? They have to win out to go to a bowl. That is a respectable goal for this year's team in my opinion.
20-0 OSU
Special Teams + Good Defense = Victory
So far, so good. 40 seconds left in the half.
Kiffin went for it on 4th down twice, got lucky once, second time failed. Both times OSU capitalized.
10-0 Oregon State over USC
The Beavers are playing inspired(no pressure) football tonight. The score was 3-0 OSU after the 1st quarter, but on the first play of the 2nd quarter- Jordan Poyer picked Matt Barkley for 6.

The Beavers are predictable

Everyone expected the Beav's to lose, but they kept it interesting....
The Beav's played a great game Saturday night. They could have won, which is amazing in it's own right.
Canfield delivered a winnable performance.
The Defense clearly did not step up. Our whole d-team is suspect. Plays where made, plays where blown.
The referee's called a horrible game. I hate to blame ref's for the outcome of a game, because I think players make plays. Besides Kristick's calls, everything else was total BS. The Pac-10 must have the worst referee's in the nation. It sucks when the ref's materially impact a game. OSU is not the only team to suffer from the ref's incompetence.
From a Pac-10 perspective, it hurts our rep when the ref's suck this bad
More links to how bad the ref's sucked:

OSU owns the Pac-10
A message to all of the new recruits to Oregon State; you are the luckiest kids in the world. The university you are going join beat USC 2 out of the last 3 years. OSU is definitely one of the coolest programs in the Pac-10, USC is obviously #1, but Black is cool. The Beavers campus and school is way better than USC, but we will be up there in Football soon.
Oregon State is so cool someone made a parody of the USC game:

Video Highlights of OSU vs USC
This is an awesome video Jason Prothro found. I can't stop watching it. I wish it was HD, but still it is frickin' awesome. 'Quizz Rodgers made USC defenders look like donkeys repeatedly. Watch USC players run into each over and over as 'Quizz cuts back. The tape don't lie. OSU has quite a running back on it's hands.....
BTW- Utah is paying attention to OSU now, next week's came is big. Utah is good.

The Economics of OSU's Amazing Victory
(source: LA Times)
OSU and USC both earned 630k for being on ESPN last night. Which is a nice payday for both programs.
But because OSU beat the #1 team in the nation, on nationwide TV, they probably got $5M worth of great marketing and PR.
Everyone is aware of Oregon State now.
BTW- There are tons of records that fell last night. Almost too many to mention. The Beavers were the first unranked team to beat a #1 since 1990.
Also, OSU beat the crap out of USC's players throughout the whole game. We simply beat them up and down the field. OSU hit harder and faster. Read more.
Lastly, how stupid does Bryan Payton feel right now? Howabout Una Smiley? You guys blew it.
There is some QB from UVA who got kicked off the team, and stated he was tranferring to OSU, before the USC game he said he hasn't decided to come to OSU yet......I am not sure we need a prima donna, do you?

The Greatest Win Ever for OSU Football
Unbelievable.
OSU did it.
THEY WON!
The Beavers beat the USC Trojans!!!!
They beat the #1 Team in the nation!!!!!!!!
WOW!!!!!
This is an incredible victory for Oregon State's program. It's an amazing accomplishment.
I did not think the Beavers could do it, and they proved me wrong. Beating the #1 team in the nation is such an amazing accomplishment, especially after USC dismantled Ohio St. It's just awesome.
'Quizz Rogers looks like the second coming of Barry Sanders. Quote me on that.
JaQuizz Rogers!!!!!!
186 yds and 2 TD's!!!! He is hurt.
THE OSU KICKER MISSED IT!!! DONKEY!
27-14 OSU.
2:39 left.
OSU's defense holds USC
(source ESPN/ap)
OSU has the ball at the USC 42 yard line with 10 minutes to go!!!!
This is a huge opportunity for the Beavers to score some points and make things more difficult for USC.
OSU's offense stalls
The punt is a shank but sticks USC at their own 6 yard line.
11:19 left in the game.
End of the 3rd Quarter- 21-14 OSU
OSU is facing 3rd and long, and USC's offense looks ready to pounce. OSU is scrapping for every yard from USC's defense.
OSU needs to score at least a field goal on this drive. USC is going to score if they get the ball again.
OSU's defense is getttng tired.
Unless I pull a rabbit out of my hat
OSU is about to lose this game unless they score on the next drive.
USC is rolling, OSU looks flat. Offense and Defense look tired. USC is not.
The score is now 21-14.
