7 Turnovers

The Beavers lost 34-7, and they are lucky it wasn't worse. It wasn't that Cincy was that great, their offense got throttled by OSU's defense. OSU's Offense and Special Teams were pathetic.

Both QB's stunk.

Moevoa cemented his status as the 2nd least effective quarterback tonight, throwing interception after interception, after the #1 least effective quarterback(Canfield) threw interception after interception.

OSU's defense played tough, but did not make one big play all night. I believe Cincy finished without a turnover. I feel bad for Oregon State's defense because they hung in there and made tons of great plays....mostly in the first half.

OSU's offensive line looked tired all night. They were slow and couldn't get off the ball. They looked weak and soft against an average defensive line.

OSU's offensive playbook looked slimmed down and easy to figure out. This is possibly due to the lack of brainpower inbetween Canfield and Moevoa- PineAppola.

Sammie Stroughter looked like a high school football player and Rogers/Catchings looked liked seniors.

Alexis Serna looked like a freshman out there too. There is no excuse for missing that field goal in the first quarter.

Oregon State's offense looked downright horrible tonight. They may have gotten more yards than Cincy, but the made more catastrophic mistakes.

I am wondering what the deal is with the rate of turnovers OSU quarterbacks continue to produce in Riley's offense. Anderson threw a bunch, Moore threw a bunch his first year, and a few less the his senior year, Canfield and Meebo are setting a new standard in ineptness.

I am also wondering why the Beavers even show up for an ESPN broadcast, seems like everytime they are on ESPN they tank.....wait it wasn't the Beavers that showed up tonight, it was the Banana Slugs from Cal St Fullerton.

Everybody seems to be fixated on the team for playing so lousy. They’re missing the whole point. What is happening to the Beavers is entirely predicable. Form the moment Riley returned, it was inevitable. The Beavers will gravitate back to the bottom of the PAC. It’s evitable, because statistically they must. When a mediocre coach (historic losing record) sticks to his loosing game plan and half a dozen proven failed plays, they will be losers, by design. When you look at this logically, there are constants that statistically prevent success. 1st, The Beavers play book is so simplistic, is easy to read and predictable. Consequently as the season progresses, every team has an incremental advantage. 2nd; Riley is incapable of adequately understanding how to revise the game plan in the 2nd half; and as opponents adjust they will always have a 2nd half advantage. Take USC for example; the second half is a whole new ball game, because they figure it out and take action. The Beavers stick to their losing plan, or lack of one. (don’t hold your breath for Riley to ever change this because this is how he’s always been) 3rd. Riley runs the same failed plays over and over again, even after they are proven failures limiting the number of possibilities for a successful gain (i.e. Bernard up the middle again). Because they always waste at least one play per down on a clearly predictable failed play, they have fewer plays per game. 4th In every short yardage situation, Riley runs into the pile, which only has statistically about a 20% chance thus always limiting their potential to maintain the ball or score.. 5th, Riley has about a 50% record. In the PAC-Ten, natural team talent should get you close to that alone. The coach makes up the difference, but if it isn’t there, it can’t happen, thus it won’t happen, because it is, mathematically impossible. Believe me; I’m as unhappy about this as everyone else. Sorry but it’s all over for the Beavs, it just doesn’t add up.

I am not sure if I can write of Riley just yet. Last year proved all of us wrong. I will not say Riley is a Steve Spurrier or Bob Stoops, but he isn't the worst either.

I think we tend to blame poor plays on the coach, when it's the players who make plays. In OSU's case, our QB's do not have the brain power or athletic skills to call audibles or make correct decisions. This is not Riley's fault. It's his fault for recruiting retards...but that's another story. Regarding play calling, if you actually pay attention to other top 25 teams, they all have 10-20 "go-to" plays, they run over and over, just in different formations.

OSU lost a lot of key players before camp even started this year. This was not planned, like a Sr graduating. These losses were a blindside to the coaching staff. Freshman cause Coaches to slim down the playbook, so does average players in general.

BTW- I am not bullish on OSU's chances for going to a bowl this year. The bottomline is that good players play hard and make plays. If they can win 5 or 6 games I'd be happy.
