Tavita Thompson

Coach Mike Riley said that Tavita Thompson was "found in violation of NCAA eligibility rules" and will miss the remainder of the season. The Beavers are suffering injuries to an offensive line that was just starting to hit it's groove.

Okay...how does that work again? How does a player play in 7 games before the administration finds out he isn't eligible?

Being eligible usually means that your grades are good enough for you to play......correct me if I am wrong.

So Tavita doesn't like to look at his report card...I never did. But I knew whether or not I was eligible. Nothing is more embarrassing than being ineligible for academics. OSU is not THAT hard of a school. Come on. Either Tavita is as dumb as dirt or the entire OSU administration is dumb as dirt....or both.

He had to know he wasn't eligible. And he kept on playing anyway. OSU is lucky that they don't have to forfeit any games because of this bonehead mistake.....

It’s always fun to look back at these and see how ignorant some bloggers can be. Now that everything is water under the bridge, I will correct you about your eligibility comment. A student-athlete can be deemed ineligible by many accounts and it happens whenever a student –athlete breaks one of the rules in the NCAA handbook which is the size of a short novel. Infractions can range from academics, to agents, to ticket usage, to recruiting and etc… in Tavita’s case, he was deemed ineligible for taking supplements from GNC which were deemed illegal by the NCAA. Due to Tavita’s bliss ignorance, and thoughts that, “if you can buy it at GNC, it should be fine…” he was flagged by the NCAA and suspended. I know for a fact that Tavita actually graduated ahead of schedule from Oregon State University, and is working on his MA so that one day if he decides to Blog about someone or something, he will actually know what he is talking about…

Get the facts straight before you run your mouth…
